It's made of...babies!
Yesterday mom was feeding me yogurt from a container with a picture of a

to reach something. It's maddening.
I sit pretty well, though, only rarely falling over and bumping my
head. Sometimes it's almost like I do it on purpose -- I get bored,
and just arch backward at full speed, like I'm in somebody's arms.
But I'm not, and gravity hurts my head, and then I yell.
I really like bagels and pancakes and sweet potatoes. I'll tolerate
carrots and chicken and rice. Forget about acidic fruits or peas,
yecccchhhhh.
I'm not sleeping so well. Ever since the stomach bug I wake up every
hour or two again. Daddy brings a bottle, but I'd rather make mommy
feed me.
I like touching your face and making eye contact to greet you. And I
have the greatest little surprised chirp of a laugh when you say hi to
me, or when my brother does something funny or nice.

the virus
Monday night Alex had a fever and threw up. Tuesday night the family had dinner together. Within 24 hours everyone else in the room except Alex was sick.
The attached song commemorates this family event.
O' Alex You Caused a Commotion
(to the tune of "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean)
chorus: Gaby, Dan, Ivan, Barbara, Ken and Chris
O' Alex You Caused a Commotion
A virus that struck far and wide
O' Alex You Caused a Commotion
From this one we really can't hide
chorus
Take back, take back
Oh take back that virus from me, from me
Take back, take back
Oh take back that virus from me, from me
My parents tried always to teach me
'Tis better to give than receive
My parents tried always to teach me
Their truth now I fully perceive
(chorus)
Mom added:
You burbled at all of us, sweetly
then gurgled, and up came a mess.
Who knew it could happen so quickly?
now we're all in gastric distress!
(chorus)
