One month

I have a cold. It scks. I make lots of snorkling, honking, grunting noises.

I like cuddling with my food. In fact, that's pretty much the only way I'll sleep during the day. Or in the Baby Bjorn or sling.

I have lost all the hair off the front half of my head, increasing my "grumpy old man" look. Grandpa says I look like Winston Churchhill -- discontent.

Three weeks old

I weigh about 11 pounds now, maybe more -- I eat a LOT. I also sleep pretty well, three and four hours at a time at night. It's hard to get to sleep in the evenings, though, I get pretty fussy in the late afternoon and don't want to be put down.

I really don't like baths very much, but it's kind of nice that my brother wants to help wash my feet and tummy. He also wants to snuggle with me and carry me around, but luckily the parents don't let him.

I like tummy time more and more, especially on the sheep skin. It's fuzzy.
I roll my eyes around with my eyelids open when I sleep. It's creepy looking.
I sleep pretty well in the baby bjorn or in the sling, but some weird lady told mommy that slings suffocate babies so now she's kind of spooked.
And I stop crying when Mommy sings "Row Row Row your Boat" and spins me around in circles during the "merrily"s. (It makes Ivan crack up, too).

Well this is different!

I was born!

For a few days and nights there, it was getting very very tight and squeezy inside the belly. It was a little annoying, and I tried to fight back after I got squeezed -- I kicked and punched a little extra every time. But then, Mommy went to the place where they put the cold listening things on her belly, and they listened to me (I kicked them), and then the squeezing feelings got stronger. And faster.

I can't imagine it was comfortable for Mommy; I know I didn't enjoy it much. But I got lower and lower, and she kept moving around from side to side, and I went the only direction I could...and then I was born!

Those first few moments are a blur...they suctioned something out of my throat really fast, and then I was on Mommy's chest and listening to her heart and her talking to me. I was pretty tired, but after a few minutes I started lifting my head and looking for a nipple. My neck is strong! And I found a nipple, and even managed to get it into my mouth and get latched on for a little while. I felt like a hero. Then I fell asleep.

People kept waking me up to prick me with things, and measure me with things, and that was not so much fun. But pretty soon, I heard my big brother Ivan's voice -- and got to see him for the first time! That was cool. He's big.

I've been out of the belly for a week now, mostly eating and sleeping and pooping, and life's pretty good. My favorite things include being tightly swaddled, getting a solid latch on a nipple, and rocking in the glider. My least favorite things are diaper changes, baths and my umbilical cord (which kind of smells, and hurts a little).
